Hey all! First off, brand new here. So, hi to everyone in the forum! When I was a young teenager, I was given a knife collection. I've never really known anything about them, except they are worth some money. Long story short, I recently pulled them out, and started googling the knife makers. Some of them are pretty well known. Towell, j.d clay, sigman, ect. The issue is, I'm having trouble identifying one or two of them, and the others, I cant find any wealth of knowledge on the internet. I want to value them, and I cant find any info tht helps me do that. Is there maybe a book or a website that you guys would suggest to help me?

Re: question about collectors knives

Hey, sorry about the long delay in response. I've been kind of busy the last few weeks, and I'm just beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel

anyway, I am STILL having trouble IDing those blades. I know the maker of most of them, but dont know how to find out what "model" they are, so i am able to value it. anyway, the pics all have numbers by them, this is the info i actually have on them.

(where you see quotation marks, that is whats engraved on the blade.)

2. "Towell" and "223-76"

3. "J.D. Clay" "Lloyd, KY" "89" "8.74

4. "Little" "53"

5. "There is an outline of an anvil, with SMITH written inside the outline"

7. "C.R. Sigman" "Red House, W. VA"

Re: question about collectors knives

Just a thought: if you're going to come in and look for information, be so kind as to keep your toes completely out of the photographs. Other than the fact that Clay no longer produces, something similar from ACK (#2) recently retailed for about $600.
