Question about / for Alpha mags

I keep reading that Alpha is going to come out with mags for 300WM in the semi near future, and considering the ridiculous length and price of an AICS 10 rounder, I am awaiting anxiously. Today, I saw on the Alpha website it looks like they are coming out with one listed as 408. type 5. Considering the 300WM is typically touted as the most popular round in North America and the fact the Army is making the switch to 300WM I would think the 300WM would be a priority and a more lucrative move. Does anyone know anything about this?
They already have have 300WSM 10 rounders, wich is awesome, and making the jump to 300WM is extending the inside a hair over 0.6" to fit the OAL of the 300WM. If you made 300WM double stack 10 rounders and sold them at same price of the 5 round AICS mags guys would come out of the woodwork looking to grab them up. The Army would surely be interested in better priced mag. Hell, you could charge the same as the AICS 10 rounder if it is as short as the 300WSM.

Yes the 408 Type 5 Mag is being worked on, BUT the 300WM mag is also being worked on.

No one owes you an explanation.

There are better ways to get what you desire then rocking the boat.

Some people dont take well to it and you might find yourself swimming back to shore.

They are being worked on. In a perfect world they would already be available, but we all know that isnt the case.

There is a lot that goes into designing and perfecting these mags and Chris takes that very seriously. Its not as simple as just adding some length to the mag and calling it good. He is working hard (trust me) on multiple tasks and doing his best to keep everyone happy.

As soon as they are done, they will be made available.

I fully understand the engineering and tooling part of the equation. I just found it odd that they show the 408 as being worked on but not the 300WM. I know a good number of shooters and very few are running chey-tac based rounds. I know quite a few who shoot 300WM, obviously myself included. If you look back at Chris'initial intro when they started making MORDA mags, it seems like every 3rd or 4th post was a "what about 300WM?" kind of post. I am just thinking from a business sense I guess, unless there is something big I really don't know about the 408. Maybe you could emlighten me?

You were wondering why the 408 mag is being worked on and not the 300wm mag. I informed you that they are both being worked on.

I agree that the 300wm mag will be used by more shooters then the 408 mag. That said, it ultimately is not you or my call which one is done first.

Again, it is being worked on and will be made available when finished.

By enlighten I meant, do you know of a larger following of the 408 crowd then perhaps I do? Again, if you read my post I was thinking from a business perspective. I just don't see being able to make a profit with 408 unless you charge a fortune, where if you make it for more popular/common rounds it should be more profitable as you can move more units, which is the reason .308 is such a good place to start. I don't fault him for working on both. I would just think from a profit stand point that you would want to get the 300WM out first, as it is more prevalent, and then as margins are going up, begin design and tooling for the less common rounds. I would even go so far as to say I would think making 50 BMG before 408 would make good business sense. That's what I am really wondering. That's how most companies work. They start with the stuff that has wide appeal then build for the niche markets.

Looking forward to the new 300WM mags for my '06. Chris is working very hard on them. I originally inquired about them just as he was getting things set uo to make them. He has hit some issues not his own that delayed getting things in order but has kept me up with the progress. He is a stand up guy because he has kept me in the loop on the develpment and I am nobody. Just started using an Alpha for my .243......they may be cheaper but definitely aren't lesser. He puts out a nice mag.

What does it matter if I know of a larger following for 408 over 300wm. The answer is 9 out 10 people you ask will be NO.

What you see or how you feel about what Alpha's business plan is irrelevant. Its not your company or you concern.

To be honest I find your line of questions to be trolling and Ive had about enough of it.

Let it go and wait for the mags to be done.. or go buy a 408.

Yeah, I was impressed by the 308 mags a buddy has and it makes me want some 5 and 10 rounders for 300WM that much more. The stainless is perfect and the double stack for shortening the mags is an awesome feature and they seem better built than even the AICS mags do.

I didn't mean of a larger following over 300WM. Quit taking everything personally Knight. It's not an attack on anyone. I just wonder about these kinds of things. It isn't meant to be "trolling" just honest questions. I guess next time I just won't post any question and sit with my thumb in my butt because a serious question will be misconstrued as being inflamatory. You don't know me and I don't know you, so why don't you try being a little less standoff-ish and uber authoritative, when I am willing to take your original comment with respect and edit my post so as to attempt to be more polite. Just because you have a bunch of posts on this site, doesn't mean you known any more or less than I.

Nothing has been taken personally. I just carried the attitude that you had in your original post into the rest. If you shifted gears into a better attitude I missed it. My mistake.

Your right, your post count means nothing and I never once took it into consideration. I will say however I think I do know more then you, on this topic for sure. Which is why you asked the question and I answered it.

I now understand that your questions are not meant with any poor intent, even if that's how they come off.

I think we can move on from here on a better foot.

I appreciate the reply and I am sure you do know more on the matter, since you seem to know what is going on with Alpha. That said, do you know if Chris has a timeline when he is trying to get them out? I understand he had some problems with manufacturing(not sure on specifics except he posted something about teflon on the store site?).

I cant give an honest timeline. Chis is dedicated to getting them out as fast as possible.

Much appreciated. I hate to spend money on overpriced AI mags when I can get an even better American made version and support someone at the hide at the same time.
