I was fortunate enough to get in on the "Stiller Group Buy" here on the Hide and excitedly await the shipment of my first custom action. I am planning to pair this action up with a Brux 26" fluted barrel chambered in 6.5 Creedmore. How should I have it chambered to be able to load on the lands and still be within magazine length.

Re: Question about my first build

You need to talk to the person chambering it and get the list of throating options they offer.
You could also make up some dummy cartridges with the specific bullets you intend to use and send them to PTG and have dave make a reamer that fits them.

The standard PTG 6.5 creedmore reamer is actually pretty good in the regard of being able to seat to touch the lands and fit within an AICS mag.

Re: Question about my first build

I have a reamer on the shelf . Give me a call and I will go over this with you. Also some of the folks on this site can give you some recommendations on the free bore length they use. Randall is right the standard free bore works great or I would look at a shorter .088 length and burn into the sweet spot rather than eroding past your needed length. What ever you choose we can ship it within 24 hours. My number is 541-826-5808 Thanks Dave Kiff

Re: Question about my first build

If your shooting the 140 grain factory amax ammo you'll need a FB of .199", if hand loading only, build a dummy with your choosen bullet and have it measured.

FB much shorter than .199" may cause pressure spike issues if you try to shoot the 140 amax ammo.

When I ordered my 6.5CM reamer I measured the 140 grain amax ammo and gave those measurements to Dave @ PTG and JGS Reamers. Both of my CM reamers are .199" FB, PTG and JGS.
