I recently bought a Ruger LC9 and my wife would like to use it for her carry gun, however she has difficulty pulling the slide back against the spring to chamber a round. Does anyone know of a replacement spring that is easier to use but still rechamber a round? Thanks much

Took a small center punch, and made divots in the front of the finger grip ribs, so that I have more friction as I pull the slide back. Four hits per rib improved the grip 100%. The punch marks raise little edges on the top of the ribs, if the hits are near the outside edge of the ribs. Mine is a LCP, so the front sight is almost invisible, and I put a groove in the top of the front sight with a Dremel cutoff wheel, filled the groove with orange fluorescent paint. Also 100% improvement there. Old eyes, old muscles are a PITA.......

Yes, thanks, personnally I think she needs to practice and work to overcome the slide spring. She has a little trouble finding and dpressing the slide stop. She does it in two distinct motions I think she will be ok after the gun is used more and she has more pracrtice. Thanks again.

A weaker spring will only decrease reliability and longevity. It would be best if she could rack it but not really neccesary. You chamber it for her and she goes on her way. All the little guns have stiff springs. The smaller the stiffer as they don't have the mass in the slide to absorb recoil so they make it up with spring pressure. The only way around this is a lighter caliber.
