PRS Talk Question about savage 11 scout

Hello,

I'm now. I have a savage 11 Scout 308, that I thought I' use for hunting but have not. I'm thinking of turning it into a 260 Rem to shoot out to 600 yards. The rifle has ha less than 50 rounds through it. Would it be more cost efficient to replace the barrel or just go buy a 260 rifle.

Go buy a 260 barrel and swap it.
I’ve had great luck with 3 shilen 260 barrels so far on my 11 XP.

you’d be surprised at how 308 can do at 600

So I guess my other question would be, 260 Rem or go to 300 win mag if I wanted try and go out to 1000 yds?

I’ve shot my 260 successfully past a mile many times.
1000 yards is easy with it.

300 magnum is going to need a mag bolt face and long action
