Suppressors Question about silencer mirage cover

Does a rimfire suppressor require a mirage cover like centerfire suppressors do? My rimfire suppressor hopefully will be out of jail soon.

Not really. If looking through the scope you see a wavy target, then a mirage cover would help. Personally mine doesn't get hot enough to create vapor like my 338 Ultra does.

You won't hurt it, just unlikely you'll need one.

No, it doesn't unless you shoot full auto. I have a swr spectre ii on a 16" 10/22 and even in the most aggressive shooting tempo, I haven't had mirage issues at all (16x max power on scope).

While you're right to be concerned, the low pressure and powder of the rimfire rounds equate to little mirage. I have only had issues with centerfire cartridges based on the 223rem and above (shot an sbr PS90 with a 4x scope no problem).
