hi all
looking at the barrels on the windrunner, do they have a coller
fitted/ welded on for the bolt to lock into ?
am asking because i want to know if a gunsmith could fit an after market barrel.
any info ?
cheers

Re: question about the windrunner rifles?

just looking at the 50bmg or 50dtc, m96
just trying to figure out if it can be rebarrelled over here

Re: question about the windrunner rifles?

The M96 50 BMG like this one has lug abutments in the receiver.

The barrel is held in by the barrel nut, there is a step for the barrel to index to the receiver.

The bolt locking lugs are part of the receiver not the barrel.

Contact Bill at EDM Arms and have him make a barrel for you. Trying to get a gunsmith to do a barrel for you is not a good idea unless he is very familar with the Windrunner. It is a very high pressure weapon.

Re: question about the windrunner rifles?

It fits similar to how it is on the Uzi. As mentioned above, I don't think it would be a simple process to do a 3rd Party barrel - Bill Ritchie doesn't have a history of selling just receivers (just complete rifles). EDM's barrels have been made by Lilja for the last five or more years and while I'm sure a barrel manufacturer CAN make a barrel for a Windrunner, I suspect it would require some fitting on EDM's part.

Re: question about the windrunner rifles?

cheers for that info esp the pics,
i know the lug are on the bolt !
what i did not know was if the barrel has a coller welded on that the bolt locks into , like on the dsr no1.
getting a barrel thats chambered out the US to the uk is quite hard and bloody expensive.
ive got the chance to buy a m96 thats already in europe.
just not the cal i wanted.
hence asking about re barreling buy a smith,
its not that i would want to try to take trade away fron EDM , just ive been told its easier to get border barrels to make one
