I’m about to pick up a Zeus for a new 6 CM build and noticed there is the option for the quick change barrel option or full length threaded option. From what I’ve read and heard, most people seem to get the quick change barrel version and it seems like the tenon length is aweful short. My question is.... is this even a concern for accuracy / consistency on a hard use match rifle or is it worth getting the conventional full thread version and the action wrench and torquing shouldered barrels on like normal?

    Thanks.

If you get the quick change option you can still torque it on if you want to. I had already ordered a barrel full length and got the quick change action because it was in stock. I was told for my situation it will still work no problem. Action wrench, barrel vice, and torque it on.

If you run the quick change Zeus as stated above you can just torque barrel.
Advantage is you can run either style barrel, quick change or full thread. So gives you more options of barrel choices.
The full torque action you can’t run QC barrels...

Also the quick change has a very good, repeatable and consistent return of POI. Takes all of about 30 seconds to swap a barrel.

I use a wrench on my brake nut and just bump the prefit up, just a nudge more than hand tight. I run my set screws in till I feel them bottom out, tighten evenly to 15 inch pounds.
Very repeatable, less than 1 MOA @ 100 yds.

Ive never heard of any issues with them.

Really only need a few threads to carry the load. The shoulder of the barrel being square against the action and then held in that position (either via set screw or just torque) when closed together is whats going to hold that tube on straight when its tightened up, extra threads wont really offer any additional support.

I had a Zeus for a while. Very repeatable return to zero on the quick change model. Switched to Impact because I like the bolt lift much more. But I would own a Zeus again no problem!
