Have a lower I use for precision shooting. Question I have is, I want to install a PRS gen 3 stock on it and the specs. read for a Mil-spec. rifle/carbine length, B-tube, and my lower has a comm. spec. carbine B-tube. Has anyone installed one on said tube? Just curious, because I'm cheap. Even though I can change the tube out, I really didn't want to. I realize that if I changed it out for a rifle tube, which would probably optimize the rigidity of the stock, I was hoping to get away with using what I have already. Thanks for all reply's (if any) in advance. Mac:cool:

There is a spacer that you leave off if using it for a carbine buffer. I have one on my Sig 716. Buffer tube is longer than a carbine but shorter than a rifle I believe. I just know I tried it without the rifle spacer and it fit good. It slides on very snug. No wiggle room for a commercial tube.

Your issue, is it's not going to go on with that commercial tube. So you can either leave it carbine length, but get a mil-spec tube. Or your other more expensive options is to get an A5 kit, or rifle kit that is mil-spec.

After further reading on MagPul's site, I was coming to the same conclusion. Thanks! Mac

UPDATE: Found a stock that is cheaper and I can use my carbine B-tube, the Luth-AR adj. carbine stock, which will give me a adj. cheek riser, adj. butt pad and will still adj. LOP the same as my MP CTR does, also if I want to go back to my CTR because I changed uppers, I can. Problem solved! Mac:cool:

The Luth is solid, and lighter than the Magpul. I run the PRS3 on a carbine tube, but, it is mil spec. Good luck, a comfy stock is a nice upgrade

For what it's worth, I run my PRS3 on a rifle length tube and appreciate the rigidity and the solid mount. The stock bolts to the tube from the back and also has the pinch screws on the tube. It is rock solid and smooth with the rifle buffer.
