Question for you USOptics Owners

Got my SN3 this week. It is gorgeous! As soon as I get it mounted on my build, I'll post pics.

I may have to call USO this week cuz I have some probably stupid questions. Maybe you owners can help. I have the USM40 knobs with stops. The build sheet says the stop is set to center the retical on a 20MOA base, (giving an approximate 100yd zero). I understand that the scope is supposed to have 80MOA of total elevation adjustment. So, thats 100MOA total. However, the elevation knob only allows 25MOA of upward adjustment, and no downward adjustment. I understand that the lack of downward adjustment is probably the stop but shouldn't I have around 45-50MOA of upward adjustment if the retical is centered? Guess I should see if total elevation adjustment increases if I move the windage knob. Maybe the ret is not centered.

Lastly, how do I adjust the stop if needed? Neither issue is covered in the provided material.

Ahhhh, you need to center your scope.
First: mount the bottom half of your rings to the rail
Second: place the scope in the rings
Third: As you look through the scope, rotate it 180* clockwise and counterclockwise.
Fourth: As you turn the scope, you will see the reticle 'scribe an arc' in it's center 'x'(this means the center will follow a rocking chair type line)
Fifth: As you rotate both the ELEVATION and WINDAGE knobs, while rotating teh scope, you will see the axis of the 'X' move less and less until the reticle rotates exactly centered on the 'X' as the axis. Your scope is not exactly mechanically centered.
Sixth: Rotate the scope to a level upright as seen on teh retice, and mount the top rings, evenly torquing them to 15"#(your base screws are 20"#)

When you get to the range to make your 100M or 300M or 500M zero, simply dope the scope to your line of zero, and reset your knobs to zero when you are done by loosening the hardware, and correcting the dope to '0'.

Once you have done this, you will never see more than around 30MOA worth of travel either UP or DOWN, and I am pretty certain it will be a lot less than that

Suppose I need to be patient and wait until I get it mounted and to the range. Its possible that the 100 yard zero will take less elevation than the zero stop is set for.

Yup,my scope elevation set from USO was dead nuts on at 100m and just needed two cliky on the windy.

May never happen again, but cool none the less.

100M is fun to shoot until you get bored with hiting one hole groups on a 5mm red dot target. Make a 1" grid, then place a 5mm dot at each intersection. Shoot the red dot with each round. When you get realy good at that, make a 1.5" circle inside a 3" circle, and make a wide lined 6" circle around it. Your aiming point is the 1.5" circle...at 300M


When your scope is zeroed, simply 'slip your scales' back to zero. When you get to a range that has more than 300M, just rexero your stick fro 300M and shoot dead on at 300, and check your come ups and come downs fro anything less or more, and make targets all over the place if you can and see how well you can shoot/practice on UKD's from 100M to 500M if you have the range

Not new to scopes or long range shooting, just new to USO. Gotta say I'm a little disappointed on the printed material that comes with the scope. Not one word anywhere on the zero stop or how to adjust it. I was hoping for more detail on the retical that I could stow in my log book, particularly details about length of hashes.

I've been shooting Nightforce for years and wanted to step up. One thing I like about the NF NPR2 ret is that the 2-8moa hashes extend beyond the vertical by 1.5 MOA and the 10moa hashes 2.5. Very handy for wind holds.

The USO hashes are only on 1 side of the vert, and no mention of how long they are.

Suppose I'll have to do a full review when I get everything mounted and zeroed. Still waiting on base and rings to get painted. Not loving my gunsmith for taking so long to do that. Just in case he reads this.

Funny, I have enough paper for my US Optic's scopes to do what I need with them from start to finish. All downloaded from their site. Thier video's are also top notch and do a very good job of explaining the minutia you may miss in print or not understand
