Question on .308 brass

Forster full length die,I've noticed a ring around my brass,I can feel it with my finger nail,do I just need to polish my die? This is new lapua brass

It’s probably not your die, it’s your chamber, the die just makes it obvious during sizing.

Oh my.....can you take out the expander ball and decap pin...and run a lubed case through and see if this goes away?

I've seen a few instances where the neck gets over sized..and then upon pulling the expander ball through on soft brass....it is too big and stretches the brass longer....and it has to give somewhere.

How far did you bump the shoulder back when you set up the dies....if you simply followed the directions on the dies...probably too much. If new Lapua brass will chamber in my rifle without sizing...I generally fire form it the first time and then bump the shoulder back 2 thou.

I thought maybe that ring was after you fired it...and I've seen....recently....instances where someone leaves a little cleaning fluid in their chamber and it builds too much pressure and leaves that brass stretch ring.

And its only there after you put the brass in the die? Id stop putting the new brass in the die then. See what happens after its fired.

Usually when I get rings like that they are from where it sits in the trimmer holder or where it rolls around on the edge of the loading block or ammo box. Certainly cant feel hem.

Fucked up dies don't make concentric rings, they make long scratches...think about it.

Shoot it and then resize. Based on location it might be a mark from an annealing fixture. It not the die.

I would try sizing another batch # or a different brand case ... if the ring is still there, then "maybe" your die has a defect.
