I have a buddy who is wanting to build an AR pistol chambered in 7.62 / .308. Ive done a little research here and on the internet but cant find much about it. I know there are .223 versions of AR pistols, but dont ever really find a .308 Any one have any info to head me in the right direction?

Re: Question on a AR pistol in 7.62

He wants it because of a friend of his that has an AK pistol, and loves all things AK. So he wants to build a AR10 pistol to show the guy what he is missing.

I have shot a AR15 pistol and they are alot of fun, so I imagine the same joy could be had with and AR10 pistol.

I guess to each his own but that would be pissing money away IMHO

I do know that they are easy SBR conversions, but that isn't legal in my state without the proper paperwork. It's not me thats building it, I'd rather put the money into something else.

LAF...yeah, LOUD AS FUCK. It will have feeding issues unless the gas tube or op rod gas holes are BIG so they can provide enough pressure to actuate the action. WHen I cut down my R1A1 to 17" I had to open up the gas port to .0811 to make the action work correctly. If I go shorter to say 10" I'll have to open it up even larger to allow enough gas pressure to move the op rod. Same principles apply to AR10's whether they be gas tube or op rod guns. The gas ports need to be drilled out to open up. Bottom line though, LAF is LAF and LAF is FUN!
