sorry for the ignorance guys.... I keep seeing these odd details and want to make sure I'm not ordering the wrong thing...

will these features:

Mil-Std-1913 Slot Pattern
intergral recoil lug

give me any problems when I bolt the base on? or will they just bolt right on the action like any other base? They mention bolting to mil standard 1913 action for a SA rem 700? I'm lost...

sorry if this is a dumbass question... I have just never noticed these features before on any of the regular leupold bases I have always used...

Re: question on Badger Ordinance/nightforce rail SA Re

thats because BO and NF are in a different league of quality.

the 1913 slot pattern references the rail on top, not the mounting holes in the receiver.

they are bolt ons, no gunsmith required (im pretty sure any product listing for them includes that info)

Here's the text from the ad... could have posted this first I guess...

as far as the BO and NF being in different classes... how so? to my untrained eye, the look essentially the same. Is it a matter of better tolerances with the BO?

REMINGTON 700 - SHORT ACTION SCOPE MOUNT BASE (STEEL) An integral recoil lug machined on the bottom of the base provides a precise fit when bedded to the rifle’s action, preventing any movement of the base or recoil stress on screws holding the base to the receiver. Our one-piece bases are machined to exact Picatinny Mil. Std. 1913 specification rail dimensions. This design allows the same scope to be used on several different rifles, always optimizing eye relief. Choose from 20 or 40 M.O.A. tapers. Designed for right-or left-hand actions, our bases will never interfere with loading or extraction

i was just saying they both have an edge on leupold in quality. its one of those things you cant explain well without alot of numbers. all i can say is when i first held a BO base in my hands, it felt like it was cut with a laser and you could hammer it through a 2x4 and have it come out the other side, unscathed.

theyre beyond that 'store bought' feeling. pardon me from getting too unscientific.

dont have a NF base but im sure its of equal quality to the BO. im sure seekins bases also have the same magic that people seem to be very impressed with.

Re: question on Badger Ordinance/nightforce rail S

OK, I gotcha now... yeah, I would hope the BO or the NF base are both much better...

BO seems to have a solid reputation though. seems like I should be OK either way..I haven't hit every gun store in Houston, but the ones I have stopped by do not carry NF or BO products.... it's all the same crap in every store.
