I have a custom 6.5-06 and I was debating on keeping that chamber for a little while but when I decide to rechamber the barrel I want to go to another 6.5 long action. I'm just throwing out there the Ackley improved version of the 6.5-06 AI, or possibly the 6.5/284 Norma or possibly a 280AI down to 6.5/280AI or whatever its legal description is. Any other possible chambers out there that would work with this that can be mentioned would be considered. I know you start talking about barrel burners then but I'm not concerned with that, I just want to speed it up and keep it accurate. No I don't want to consider the 26 Nosler that is too much. GO!! Let's hear some considerations!

I have had a 6.5-06, a 6.5-06 ai and have shot a 6.5-284 and a 6.5-280 ai. The 6.5-06 with ramshot magnum and 140 Bergers was fast and accurate without all of the headache of fireforming though my next 6.5 is going to be 6.5-284 so I can use lapua brass. Hope it helps

What kind of velocities are people getting from the 6.5-06 and 140 Bergers and 142 smks or 140 amax?
