Gunsmithing Questions for Savage Guys

A friend is building on a Savage CF action. He has the action ordered. There is a 30 cal barrel blank ordered (Broughton I think) and will be chambered in 308 Win.. He wants a tactical stock and a DBM. I am looking for feedback on where the best stuff is for what a tactical build on a Savage. Any help will be much appreciated. Oh, and provide links to web sites if you have them.

cdiprecision.com for good bottom metal. stocks up to him and what fits but there are plenty of choices. click my name & view my posts. ive listed stocks in another few threads with links. but mcmillan if you can wait a bit. guys like the choate tactical. you might call savage about a mcmillan A5 as thats a factory option. SSS...well there is a wait. try stockys, stockade and if he wants to be really tactical, aics is coming soon i hear

Depends how much he wants to spend. B&C medalist stock. Then ship it off to CDI and let jeff inlet it for his DBM system. Or manners, HS, stockade, AICS for stocks also. Jeff has the best DBM for a savage but some guys chose the acme system from sharp shooters supply.

there's a savage picture thread, with lots of "stuff" listed.

asking for what the best stuff is, you'll get a billion opinions, and half the stuff may not be in your / his budget.

use the search function and make a better decision based on the feed back / usage data found in those threads.

other wise, they'll be mcmillian, hs precision, choate listed in this thread for stocks.

nightforce, leopold, s&b, us optics for the scope.

egw, badger ordinance, farrel and others for a one piece base

badger ordinance, millet, burris, farrel, etc. for rings.

timmney, rifle basix, sharp shooter supply, etc for trigger.

atlas, harris, etc. for a bipod.

Pick a new savage 10PC with the 5R barrel. It comes in the accustock which actually is a very good stock and DBM the only draw back is the only place to get the extended mags is SSS. But in the long run it will be cheaper. HS, BC, and choate are making stocks inletted for the savage DBM. the choate Tactical stock is the cheapest and is a very good stock but it is heavey and thick. You can get pretty much anything for a savge as you can a remington now days. Mine loves 155 amax's and 175smk's.
