Ordered one today. She said you only need to buy a cutter head for each caliber. This makes sense to me, but I wanted to see how it works in practice on differing neck thicknesses?

Im sure since the variation in neck thickness is so small that it probably doesnt make a difference, but just wanted to make sure I shouldnt add more cutters to my order.

This 6 week wait is gonna be tough, I have 2500 pieces of 223 brass that need trimmed and I refuse to trim manually now.

You need a different shell holder for each caliber. You can readjust the blade for each one, but it makes more sense to set it up, then buy another blade for a different caliber. Easier to remove and switch blades than to reset the blade every time you change calibers.

Order a shell holder and a blade for each caliber you plan to trim.

I use one cutter head for multiple calibers. Save your money and just use one cutter head. It is as simple as loosening an allen screw and sliding the cutter blade when it comes time to switch calibers. As far as different blades for differing thicknesses of brass I don't see how different blades would help. On a side note the cutter blade has three different cutting edges per blade and I'm still on my first blade after trimming ove 6 thousand pieces of brass.

Re: Quick Giraud question

I like having the cutter heads for each caliber. It takes about a minute to swap from caliber to caliber. Going forward I may use one cutter head for calibers I just don't trim a lot of. I do a lot of 30 cal and 223. I will always have one cutter just for 30 cal since it covers so many different cartridges.

I highly suggest using hornady (or similar)lock rings on the shell holders instead of the ones that come with it.

Jon if you need some trimmed to hold you over, and down this way holler.
