Yup, works great

I've been using QL on Wine, since Wine become decent enough to support it (in 2006 it wasn't).

Re: QuickLoad update file

Hotice I have a machine I am running Ubuntu on and am at a loss on what exactly Wine is. Is it like a windows emulator? I am very computer savy when it comes to windows but have only dabbled a bit in Linux. Is Wine freeware?

Re: QuickLoad update file

I'm using Debian, but Ubuntu is based on Debian, so ...

# apt-get install wine
# apt-get install wine-utils

I am also a "Command Line Dude", so Ubuntu might have nice GUIs to perform the above.
Wine has a directory in $HOME/.wine/dosdevices where there are the links to drives (C:, D:, ...) Wine will see when running. Those are symlinks to proper Linux FS paths.
It is possible Ubuntu already creates the proper drive/symlink for your CDROM, otherwise you'll have to create it yourself.
After that, you just run (assuming D: is your cdrom drive where you have the QL CDROM):

$ wine 'D:\SETUP.EXE'

After that, QL is installed inside your $HOME/.wine/ directory.
I use shell script wrappers to run QL and QT, but IIRC the QL install (via Wine), will create proper Linux desktop links to run QL and QT.
