Not seeing much here. Been shooting for 45 + years. Dragunovs, 8 mag, 338 lapua ect. Just picked up a r2mi, so far so good. 50 rounds and freeing up nice. Topped off with a leupold 7-42x56 vx6. Question is trigger upgrade. Any one hear of a drop in or just best to send it to Bill Springfield?

Hi,

I doubt you will get much information on that rifle here.

Remington has a history of screwing shit up to be honest and not many here will risk buying a remington BMG when that original Cobb 50 design that then went to the Bushmaster BA50 had enough issues on their own.

The Cobb design is horrible in regards to the gas system (Remington has done nothing with it)
As you note--The Cobb design has a pretty horrible trigger (Remington evidently has done nothing with it)

Add to the issue that Remington has had a few different BMG specialist assist them in their acquisition desires of that design over the past 10 years or so but every single time the BMG gurus said what needed to be done in order to fix the problems Remington would just push the acquisition to the back burner.

Sincerely,
Theis

Thank you for your opinion and your input. I knew going in that the trigger was like pulling the plow handle on a manure spreader but also wasn't anything that could be tweaked. Didn't have any information on the gas system. It's like I said so far so good. I have a multitude of Remington's all Remington all with good luck although I understand the concern with the current air of the company. Just wasn't going to drop the money on a Barrett automatic and I think their bolt action guns look like crap myself just my opinion. So as I said just fishing for information, and looking forward to constructive inputs and constructive conversations thank you

I realize this is an old thread but I stumbled upon it and couldn't resist a reply. I am not sure what THEIS is talking about in regards to a poorly designed gas system. These are bolt action rifles, and have been so ever since the original Cobb design, thus there is no gas system involved in this firearm. I have been using the bushmaster BA50 for years now (Remington now re-brands this rifle as the R2MI with zero changes aside from the green receivers and rail), and it is an excellent 50bmg platform that delivers outstanding accuracy and reliability at a reasonable cost. The trigger does leave much to be desired, but seeing as it is a hammer-fired FCG very similar to an AR-15 albeit with no disconnector to worry about, it is very easy modify and end up with a fantastic trigger. I have installed a pre-travel take-up screw and an over-travel take-up screw to really limit the overall trigger travel. Once the sears are polished nicely and the spring tension is slightly reduced, it is no problem to get the stock trigger down to about 2lbs6oz with a crisp glass-rod break and zero discernable creep. If you still have any questions regarding modifying this trigger, feel free to direct message me, but certainly don't take the previous opinions from members who are not familiar with this platform for fact, as they are patently incorrect.
