I have a R700 short action. I am interested in purchasing a Seekin's or similar scope base.

I'm not sure which screws configuration I should be choosing. The two option's I noticed are 6-48 and 8-40 screws. Will both work or do I need to purchase one or the other in order to make it work?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Not really. They have their place. On a heavy magnum, sure. If my receiver's holes aren't straight and need some finagling, I would certainly do the 8-40s, as it costs nothing extra, and can actually be required.

For a typical rifle? Don't bother.
