If somebody has a R700 with a sporter barrel (SPS, ADL, whatever) nearby could you measure the barrel diameter about 16.25-16.50" from the bolt face? I'm curious if theres enough meat on the barrel to thread 5/8-24 and have a decent shoulder.

So probably not a good candidate to cut back and thread. If its .671 16" out that gives almost no shoulder.
