I've been a member here for a while. Just starting to get active. Reading and absorbing mostly. Thanks to everyone and their contribution to this site. I've learned a ton and I'm still learning.

2 weeks ago I went shopping for a Savage 10 PC. But, after finding this Remington 700 SPS used I decided to go with it instead. Shooter needs some work but the gun is working flawlessly! I'm not very good at telling stories. So I'll just post up some pics and descriptions

I did my OCW testing yesterday. No pressure signs even at 45.2 grains. I decided to go with 43.8 grains for my OCW. If anyone see's that differently please let me know.





Today I went back to the range to confirm my zero and get in some groups. Started out a little large. Once I settled down and started confirming my NPA the groups tighted right up! I milled the paper's long side at 2.875 mils for a distance of 106 yards.

POA in the top left target is center of the black. Rest are top right corner of the black. Found that to be easier. All are 5 shots except the bottom right. It's 4 shots.

I'm super happy with my purchase and mildly satisfied with my performance. Time to get some D.O.P.E.!

Added a much needed higher comb. And I need to add one more layer of mouse pad I think. Still feels low.

Try using a smaller dot as your aiming point, rather than the large black square. You were on the right track with using the corner. Aim small, hit small!! Trigger time trumps all of the arm chair tactics.

Rob01 took me out to shoot at his club's range today. He helped me get set up and on the right track. Thanks again Rob!

Got DOPE out to 400 yards and a chance to see how this R700 shoots. I'm all smiles! No pictures of 400 yards. That was all steel. I could consistently hit a 6" circle plate but not the 4" one. I did get some pics of 200 and 300 though. Wasn't shooting for groups just getting an Idea of needed elevation. Next time I'll get some 5 shotters. Wanted to expend most of my ammo at 400.

And after dinging some steel...I'm hooked. This is gonna get ugly!

Hey man try lapua brass ... I used same load in my APA.308 43.8 gr Varget , 178AMAX/HPBT and Lapua brass, CCI BR /Fed 210M with excellent results...
