A video from the first race of the season. I suggest watching it in HD for the full effect.

Re: Race gas, tire smoke, and Mustangs!

I love my chevy ('84 S-10)... but I've always had a hard-on for Notch-back stangs! And I've always been a fan of turbos, and it really seems like ford guys have V8 turbos dialed in!

My next street/strip toy is going to be a notch-back, or (don't laugh) a ford powered miata!

I got my license driving a Buddy's brand new '64 1/2 Mustang, .260 V8 and 4 speed. He lost his license in the same car less than a year later. He ended up trading it in for a '65 Falcon. There was a lot of that happening right around then.

I think it might be mine as well. Charlie is always good for some wheels-up leaves, but the camera trying to catch up adds something, I think.

I was born at the wrong time.

Re: Race gas, tire smoke, and Mustangs!

I may have shot one or two of the burnout clips. I can only WISH I had the video editing skills to put this together. My contribution to the video was mainly being in the background and then finding things wrong with it before it released. LOL

Stills are my area of "strength," but it sounds like the bosses were happy enough with the video's results that we'll be doing more. That means I'm gonna have to get decent with the video camera quick, since our web guy won't be at every race.

Re: Race gas, tire smoke, and Mustangs!

On a side topic.... but related.... Am I the only one who sees the link between competition drag racing and tactical LR shooting? Being a drag racer myself (10 Sec 1970 Olds), to run the dial-in, you're looking at so many things like: wind, air temp, track temp, DA, humidity, cooling system/engine oil/tranny fluid/converter/gear oil temp, tire pressure, etc etc. Everything has to be consistent and recorded in a log book to know where your car is going to run at a given time with all of the variables. Just seems like a lot of similarities to me. What about you guys?

Re: Race gas, tire smoke, and Mustangs!

Very cool Video!!
Glad to see there are some other drag racers here.
Our track just opened a few weeks ago, we have taken my brothers truck out once, hoping to have mine done in the next few weeks in time for clubclash.
Anyone else here into racing diesels??
