Greetings-I’m new to the Hide and long range shooting so I’m looking for some credible advice. I just ordered a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 to put on my newly acquired Browning Left hand Grey laminate Long Range 6.5 Creed. Would you recommend I use a Picatinny Rail for the base set? And if so, do I go with the 20? I typically will only be shooting 300-600 yards so maybe it’s not needed at these “short” distances, but want to have the option if I can find a range to shoot longer. Your time and thoughts on this are appreciated.

20 moa is the normal all around option for most guys and should get you enough elevation to shoot 1200 with that scope. Should work fine for what you are planning on doing. Picatinny is what most of us are using for bases.

Stay away from vertical split rings like Warne. Besides being low quality shit they'll be nothing but problems. Vortex doesn't recommend them either. Spend the money on good rings like Seekins, ARC, Nightforce, etc.

Picatinny bases are more versatile, and 20moa bases are pretty much standard. Spend the money on a good base as well.
