I just bought a taurus pt 1911 and love it. Ive shot over 300 rounds through it and its flawless but its my first pistol so im still learning sense ive only shot rifles before. Im gettin anxious to start adding stuff to improve it. I want to add a rail on it and found this 67873 - EMA Tactical Colt A1 1911 Under Barrel Picatinny Rail Aluminum

It looks to clamp to the triiger gaurd. Has anyone seen or used these. Is it only for colt or is it for any 1911 pistol? Any other suggestions would be great!

Re: Rail for 1911

I think the Dawson Precision Rail is one of the best if your willing to drill and tap your frame. It requires you to use a Surefire X300 with an adapter plate though. No other lights work as it is not a "Picatinny Rail" but a proprietary design.

I'm sure the Caspian one is another good option and being a Picatinny mount it does let you use other brands of lights such as Streamlight's TLR series, Insights Lights and Surefire's lights.

Otherwise Surefire makes a mount similar to what you mentioned. If you don't want to drill and tap your frame that's the one I would get.

Chpprguy has one for sale in the classifieds here and it includes a light too:

Dang! Not good. I have a couple of these and have been quite happy with them.
