Has anyone used one of their barrels and if you have how was it. This is the one I am looking to get. Barrel

It is going to be used for a range gun mostly. But I do hunt coyotes and I hike for a long ways and my AR would be lighter than my bolt gun.

What I want it to do is shoot 1" or less @ 100 yards. Any help with this would be great.

Re: Raineir Arms Barrel?

Thats a pretty new product but the initial reports I've seen are positive. Rainier makes good stuff and that will probably give you what you want. That isn't an especially light barrel though probably lighter than a bolt gun.

Re: Raineir Arms Barrel?

rainier arms does not manufacture anything, they have enough buying power to have their name put on anything they want. Good company with a few good guys.

All of them? you sure?
Pretty broad blanket statement there......and I'm not familiar with the ploygonal 3 groove Shilen blanks.

Pretty sure they have more than one source (like most in the tactical AR business).

+1! The UltraMatch .308 barrels ARE ALL Shilen blanks that WOA works their magic on. You will need to call/e-mail to confirm on the 223/5.56/6.8 barrels, but I am confident that they are NOT Shilen blanks (if nothing else gives it away, the price should...a Shilen blank, even if they are bought in BULK, will cost more than what Rainier is selling finished, drop-in barrels for).

Re: Raineir Arms Barrel?

The one the OP linked is a 3 groove polygonal 556, hence my post....

Nothing wrong with Rainier, they're great guys and use quality kit-I just am a fan of good information being passed on, not blanket statements.

The Shilens are good stuff, and WOA does great work (not to be confused with John's "hands on" work put out by WOP, but that's another ball of wax).

Re: Raineir Arms Barrel?

The 16" Select barrel is not as accurate as the match barrels. I called Rainier a little while back, and they said that you can expect around 2-3 MOA consistently out of the Select barrel, whereas the Match barrels are sub-MOA. The Select is basically a carbine barrel, not an accurate SPR/Match barrel.

I was referring to the .308 barrels. My .308 16" ultramatch should be here tommorrow if the PNW weather is not to bad

Re: Raineir Arms Barrel?

They said 2-3 MOA? My beater Bushmaster M-4 will do 1 MOA. I just ordered a select 16". When it gets here, I'll give a report on it's accuracy.

They didn't specify if the 2-3 MOA was with standard m193/xm193 or match ammo. I'm guessing its with standard "xm193" stuff and not match ammo.

I doubt a beater BM will hold MOA with LC M193/xm193. Match ammo, maybe... M193, more like 2-3 MOA.

Re: Raineir Arms Barrel?

Rogers that. I'm 1 moa with black hills match and not the milspec. Spoke w/ Ranier today. They stated 1-3 moa depending on ammo. They have a 90 day guarantee, so I'll try one and post the outcome here. Probably end up getting what I pay for. Hate when that happens.<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: pupdawg</div><div class="ubbcode-body"><div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Match308</div><div class="ubbcode-body">They said 2-3 MOA? Re: Raineir Arms Barrel?

Got it in today and mounted it up. Looks reall good. The barrel crown is a little rough due to the beadblasting. Ill try some match ammo and some XM this weekend and post the results.

Our Ultramatch barrels are Shilen Blanks, but not the Select barrel that was quoted by the OP.

As was stated, we have two sets of barrels. The Select series, and the Ultramatch series. The .308 and .223 Ultramatch barrels are both built on Shilen blanks.

We currently only offer the Select barrel in 5.56. Our latest batch of Select barrels have a case hardened Nitride finish.
