Rainier Arms vs White Oak Armament SPR barrels?

Despite the fact I'm broke, I'm still going to try and finish my .223 build so I can have at least something to shoot at the local matches out to 550. Unfortunately I have micro-brew taste but a Pabst budget. I've been checking out barrels and trying to search the forums, but nothing here is recent about the various match barrels out there. What was good a couple years ago may not be the case now and others may have improved. I'm open to suggestions. I'd like to stick with an 18" mid length SPR style. I can't afford Krieger, Bartlein, JP, or Noveske. I need to try and keep it around $300. If there's something I'm missing or another manufacturer you'd suggest I'm all ears.

I have a Rainier Arms .223 Wlyde Chamber 18" Select barrel... it's an absolute tackdriver and I've been very pleased with it. I would personally purchase another one without hesitation.

In my experience, the WOA barrels are damned difficult to beat for the money. The biggest problem currently is FINDING ONE IN STOCK or having to deal with a 5+mo wait from WOA for any new order placed at this time. At the end of the day, any of the WOA barrels, as well as the Rainier Match and Ultramatch barrels, are excellent options. Even the cheaper Rainier "Select" barrels I have seen have been good quality barrels that offer a good bang for the buck.

For your budget, Rainier currently has their UltraMatch 18" Intermediate length barrels in stock (1.5" longer than mid-length and PERFECT for the 18" barrel...the Intermediate is what's used by Noveske on all their 18-18.5" tubes). They are a bit more than your budget of $300 (they are $365), but they are absolute tack drivers with the proper ammo and if the shooter does their part in the equation. Aside from that, their have been multiple WOA 18" barrels in both Mid and Rifle lengths on GunBroker for around the $325-350 range over the last few weeks.

Anyone know if the Seekins adjustable gas block is low profile enough that it will fit under most of his forearm systems?

I knew their select series was made by Black Hole Weaponry, but I didn't know their match stuff was WOA... hmmm...

I know my woa with a matched bolt is as accurate as most bolt guns.

Yes...the only one that it might "be close" on would be the SP3R, but even it should clear.

That's not entirely accurate as WOA does not "make" their barrel blanks (they use primarily Wilson blanks). The Rainier barrels (at least the Ultramatch tubes) are Shilen blanks (many if not most of their Match barrels are Wilsons while their Select barrels are BHW tubes if memory serves). Again...with respect to their Ultramatch tubes, Rainier purchases the blanks from Shilen, and then has WOA work their barrel magic on them in terms of contouring, fitting of the barrel extension, etc., etc., etc., producing their finished barrels.

paul craddock at craddock precision use to work for WOA as Operations Manager he put my woa service rifle together for me. ive waited 8 months to received the complete upper with paul as the builder.paul been doing a lot of chambering and building rifle for woa and decided to start his company using the same blanks as woa and named his first produce barel scorpion then later named it craddock precision i came across his barrel when looking for spr barrel i decided to try it and it is indeed similar to woa..great guy that we used to conversate when hes still at woa now he has his own busines there he told me that woa been making rainiers barrel.and i asked jean at woa if its true and she did confirmed it.theres only handfull barrel maker here in america it all depends how they smith it ie chambering barrel threading it etc etc.i have 2 woa one spr one servie rifle and one 2craddock precision barrel honestly i cant tell the diff which is better my 16" rainier match are in the same level.. for their purpose you cant beat them people still debating " woa vs. noveske" that tells me that they just as good or prolly better

yup you are right althou i didnt say white oak makes barrel. and i do know theire barrel are from wilson but they finishes barrel for rainier. since woa finishes barrel for them i would think they using all wilson its great to know that their ultra is shilen blanks thanx for the correction

rainier has their 18" ultra match with intermediate gas (between mid and rifle) in stock right now, go grab it. They should have the intermediate gas tubes in stock too.

You will be happy with a 223 Wylde chamber. Of several of my AR's the Wylde chambered one is the most accurate.

The WOA 18" SPR would be a great choice for what you are looking for. My brother has one on his SPR build and it shoots great. I have WOA on all my AR's and they are great. Good luck and keep us posted.
