Alright so I am not so much talking about any particular brand of gear here I am just curious what all you guys carry in your range bags I am finally getting around to putting mine together and figured I would mention what I had and see if anyone else had tidbits on items they wished they had at some point or always carry. Mostly this will be used for range trips and potentially for tactical competitions in the future. I am currently using a 5.11 Rush 72 backpack to carry the gear. Its current contents are as follows:

Spare CR123 batteries
Hand Warmers (currently stationed in Alaska)
Sunblock
Lip Balm
Bug Repellant
Purel(hand sanitizer)
Head lamp
Good quality Multi-tool
Writing Utensils
Kestrel weather meter
Laser range finder (with small 4-8" tripod)
Rear Bag (shooting bag)
Ear Pro
Duct Tape
Good Fixed blade knife
Cordage (3/8" rope and Paracord)

If there is anything else people love please give a holler!

Re: Range bag contents

I recomend adding the bore snake for emergency purposes and although costly at first some heavy duty first aid gear. ie tourniquet, quickclot bandages, and maybe a chest seal.

Re: Range bag contents

Agree with the first aid recommendation. Tourniquet and gauze are a must. I would also recommend an emergency blanket to combat shock in case of an accident. I like to carry a lens pen and a small piece of chamois or fake chamois (shamwow)in case my optics get dirty or wet. Also recommend a piece of acetate paper and rubber band to put over your objective lens in case of rain or snow.

Re: Range bag contents

I use an old duty gear bag. I just bought a new backpack with molle all over it so I am sure I will load that thing down about 100 times heavier than it needs to be.

In my current bag I have:
paper plates (dollar store targets I call them)
staple gun
black marker (the kind that smell really bad even after the caps been put back on)
gun oil
small tools
a very small assortment of spare Glock and AR parts
mags
bullets
other targets I have printed off
plastic bags for scrounging range brass
hearing protection (muffs)

I carry off body in a small sling pack so in that bag I have things like markers, my log book, a leatherman, first aid kit, cell phone, etc.

Thank you! I was thinking it but reluctant to say it. It seems there's a bad case of sandy vaginosis running rampant here lately. Is it me or does it feel like January 1st at the gym around here lately?

Re: Range bag contents

Good God....you should really think about leaving some stuff at home.

Ears, eyes, ammo, dope book, kestrel and shooting Mat and rifle

How much does your bag weigh?
