I caught a 1.5 y/o doe in my electric fence last night and got to connect with my first 22 cal TSX.

As expected, it did not bounce off.
She was in tall grass/weeds and only her head, neck and the top of her shoulders were exposed.
She was angled slightly towards me and I aimed for the near shoulder with the intent of busting the far shoulder.

One of my red-tag hunters was watching through binos and he said the hit was spectacular. Her head whipped around in a 360 as she dropped to the ground.
No tracking was necessary.

She was less than 100 yards away and the bullet hit a bit high in front of the shoulder, nicked the spine and exited the off side taking out a big piece of rib.
Due to the angle the bullet made a 2 finger hole going in and the exit was about the size of a quarter.

My go to culling rifle on the farm is now an 8 twist APA 223AI with suppressor and I am fireforming using 50 grain blitz (whistlepigs) and 52 TSX's over Benchmark and with the shots I'm given there is no need to change zero.
I give the combo a solid two thumbs up.

.22 centerfires are devastating on deer....and you dont have to shoot them through the head to kill them either. This 30" mule deer buck was killed with a .220 swift shooting a 55gr. Hornady Spire Point. Broadside rib shot. Bullet passed completely through.
