I have always had excellent results with Speer GDHP rounds in my weapons, both duty and off-duty, so I'm naturally curious about their rifle ammunition. Has anyone used their 64gr SP 223 rounds? I'll me using it out of a 20" light varmint rig and I'm especially interested in the accuracy that you folks are getting. Can anyone help me out?

I was given a case of that to test prior to conducting a LE Sniper course (it was the ammo they used). Seemed to be ok for intended purposes. Below is a target I shot at 100 yards out of my White Oak (1:7) Service Rifle prone using a sling-unsupported. The target is a 600 yard NRA HP target reduced for 100 yards. Knowing the scoring rings its a hair under 1 inch.

I'd say its a pretty good short range (to 300 yards) round. It did shoot better in my Mann Accuracy Device (in 5.56, again 1:7 twist).

That is our current duty round and it shoots great. In my MK12, it's sub-MOA all day long. I have shot it out to 400m and it performed well. At Ironman it kept up with the 77gr stuff on spinners and steel at distance. Overall it's a great round and has good terminal performance through the FBI test protocol. I put it through 2 pieces of 16ga steel and a IIIA vest panel and it still made it 8" in ordinance gelatin. This was to simulate an an armed suspect in a vehicle wearing body armor.
