6 shots fired off my pack and rear bean bag at 113 yards:

The square "bullseye" pictured is .675" wide(inside the black).
I put a few more into that cluster after the pic was taken too.

Factory ammo.

Re: Range report on Phoenix Custom Rifles 6.5Creedmoor

Only 14 rounds have been fired through the rifle.
That group was fired after break in. Break in was quick and only took a few rounds until I was satisfied.

Rifle has been handed off to the owner. He might have some pics and a review to post soon as well.

Thanks for viewing.

Re: Range report on Phoenix Custom Rifles 6.5Creedmoor

Factory load was 140gr Amax
H4350 41.5gr
Fed M 210 primer
Hornady Brass
2.810" COAL

Ballistically it's an awesome round.

I shoot a 243 right now. I will be switching to the 6.5Creed next. I like everything about it.

The 20round box of ammo was only $25 Im told(it was supplied by the customer). I probably wont even hand load for mine when I build it. I'll shoot this factory ammo.

Re: Range report on Phoenix Custom Rifles 6.5Creedmoor

It says on the box but I dont remember.
Ill PM a link to this thread to the owner so he can answer any questions. He has the box of ammo now.

I think its around 2750 with a 25" barrel, because it quoted 28something with a 28" barrel.

The 140s have a nice BC, and any velocity over 2700 is going to get you well past 1200 yards

Re: Range report on Phoenix Custom Rifles 6.5Creedmoor

The box states 2820fps with a 28" barrel. I will be at the range this Friday to sight it in and I will bring the chrony and get a real number.
Rifle looks great I can't wait to shoot it.

Re: Range report on Phoenix Custom Rifles 6.5Creedmoor

Looks like a shooter. I say that as if we expected it. That is the kind of attention that Keith brings to the game. Nice job Keith and I still owe you an entry fee for the next match you attend.

Re: Range report on Phoenix Custom Rifles 6.5Creedmoor

We have been shooting 6.5 Creedmoor for a couple years now and really like it. We built two of our own rifles and they also liked the factory loaded stuff.

The rifle looks great, whenever I see a rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor I have to take a look. Great job Keith, look forward to shooting with you soon.

Re: Range report on Phoenix Custom Rifles 6.5Creedmoor

Hey I hope to shoot with both of you guys sometime this winter. Been really busy.

I like the creedmoor a lot. When I rebarrel my .243 I'll be switching to the creed.
The 6.5x47 is sweet too but Hornady factory ammo looks too tempting for the creedmoor.

Hopefully by the time I build one, Hornady will be in overdrive cranking out ammo loaded with the 140s. Their 140gr factory load is exactly what I'd hand load. Im just getting sick of hand loading and would rather spend the time working on rifles.

Re: Range report on Phoenix Custom Rifles 6.5Creedmoor

Shot the creed today. It averaged 2725fps out of the 25" barrel using the 140g hornady amax. The 120s are a bit faster at 2980fps
I really like the feel of this rifle and it shoots great! Groups really well when I don't eff it up, but I am still learning.
After I got a good zero and worked on a few things, we put the LaRue knock down out at 300 and took some head shots at it, it was too easy! Can't wait to stretch this thing out a bit!!
Didn't get many pics today but here is one...

And just because I really like this rifle here's one I took out back...

Man that is a sexy looking stick! Love the look of those Seekins rings, it makes the upper half of the 700 look so clean!
Edit - the Leupy looks great on it to LOL!

Re: Range report on Phoenix Custom Rifles 6.5Creedmoor

Where's the best place to buy Hornady ammo right now? Specifically the 140s.

I think Midway is on backorder, but they're only $25 per 20rnd box! Thats cheap as hell.

Anywhere in stock? Anywhere to buy in bulk and get a discount? Like 300-400 rounds.

Re: Range report on Phoenix Custom Rifles 6.5Creedmoor

Keith, Powder Valley has some of the 140s in stock for $23/box. Graf's has them in stock too at about $26/box.

Re: Range report on Phoenix Custom Rifles 6.5Creedmoor

You'll never go wrong with the Creed. My 22" Kreiger med palma, MCS-TA, 700 SA. is a one hole driller! Not sure of velocity, but guess around 2700. Absolutly love this rifle!

Nice!!!

Is this something to jump on or is it pretty available?

Re: Range report on Phoenix Custom Rifles 6.5Creedmoor

Better jump on it. The out of stock lable comes up more often than not, but look around 'cause it's out there.
