I have the money from Christmas to buy a Tikka T3x tac a1 and I plan on getting it in 6.5 Creedmoor. This will be my first long range setup. I have a range that goes out to 1000yards. I guess I'm wondering with that round and knowing I won't go past 1000 yards is the Gen 2 worth the extra $ or is the Gen 1 more then enough scope for my setup. I have the $ for a Gen 1 now. Would have to save up for the Gen 2.

The Gen 1 will do what you need without an issue but if you can swing the Gen II I would get it as you have nicer knobs and the 2C reticle is a little thinner and better for long range precision. Also the glass is better. Get the Gen II 3-18x and you won't be much more than the Gen 1.

With that flat top style you will want some higher rings or one piece mount in the 1.4-1.5" range. Buy a quality ring set or mount no matter which you buy. No QD.

This gets rave reviews. It was sold as a Weaver a few years ago and has since been dropped. PA improved the reticle and sells it under their Platinum series. I'm not a scope expert by any measure but 'my' research keeps me coming back to this one. I like the reticle mostly but the price and value at that price makes it seem like a no brainer. Unless your ego won't allow you to put it on your rifle.

This is a thread about Weaver version: https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/forum/...tactical-scope

This is a video of it in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thpecIRtOJw

+1

You can get a like new Gen 2 Razor from the classifieds for about $2,000. There's always 3 or 4 of them for sale on there. If you already have $ for a Gen 1, I suggest saving another $3-400 and buying a Gen 2 off the classifieds here on snipershide.

Regarding rings and bases, brands like Seekins, Badger Ordnance, or Nighforce would fit nicely as they are the highest quality, can't go wrong with anything from them.

Why? I want to know on my precision rifle that my rings are properly torqued onto my base and a latch or other QD device won't get caught on something and loosen. It's not a speed race to change a scope over. Takes a few minutes with a torque wrench. No need for QD.
