Gentlemen, I have one of the RCBS 1500 Chargemaster Scale/Dispenser units, and have generally been very pleased with it for the last several years. Today however, when I powered it up, it simply displays 2009 and will not move off of that reading. I have tried the usual tricks such as completely disconnecting it from power, holding down the zero button and such, but to no avail. RCBS customer service is Out of Com til Monday, so I'm just looking for suggeestions or ideas--no help on their website BTW.

Thanks for any suggestions/ideas.

You don't want my suggestion; it involves a hammer and new beam scale!

Good luck anyway.

Re: RCBS Chargemaster scale/dispenser Help

well I have both....but I just got her up and running again. I blasted everything out with my air compressore, and then bounced her around on the bench pretty agressively....figure maybe a piece of powder got somewhere it didn't need to be, or all the force of the air and the rattling about got something shaken back to life, but in short, when I powered her up after the air and rattling about, it is working fine again--go figure!

FYI, I've heard that for $45, RCBS just sends you a new scale (maybe refurbed, I don't know). That way you are back up and running and not waiting for them to fix yours.

I'm not sure how it works if you are still under warranty.

furtaker: Yes! Loaded 300 rounds yesterday afternoon--Snow and wind in Atlanta today, so no shooting today though!

Headgear: in short, no. I can only speculate to be honest, I am guessing it either had something to do with leaving the unit plugged in all the time--no on mind you, but the DC converter plugged in continuously, which a poster on another forum told me is a no-no! I've been doing it for several years though without issue til yesterday--but won't anymore! The only other thing I could guess is that a Kernel of powder got somewhere that the scale didn't like and that locked her up--guessing the air or rattling about could have cured that???

BLK7: That is good intel, I will speak with RCBS tomorrow, just to see what their assessment is of the issue.

Thanks men--Don

Have you tried the McDonalds straw yet? Cut off 1 1/2- 2" off a McDonalds straw and push it into the dispensing tube. If you have had trouble with overcharges, this will reduce them. I was getting .3-.5 over at times, shoved the straw and now every so often I might get a .1 to try to sneak through.
