When I size the neck on my .308 cases how far do I run the case into the bushing? So how much of the neck do I resize and if it is all or almost all how do I know its correct? Is there a way to check? I am new to reloading and have been reading as much as I can on this forum but I have not run acorss this answer. Thanks!

Re: RCBS Gold Metal Neck Sizer Die

You won't run into it and the die instructions din't mention it because it's nothing specific or critical. Do it however you wish but there's no point in sizing below the base of the loaded bullet.

Re: RCBS Gold Metal Neck Sizer Die

I resize the whole neck, mainly, just because screwing the die down so it touches the shellplate give that much neck resizing (for Redding die).

Redding instruction suggest screwing the top piece/decapping stem down on the bushing so it is tight, then backing it off 1/16 of a turn, just to allow a LITTLE play, to allow the bushing to self center on the case, if you are missing directions for yours..........

Re: RCBS Gold Metal Neck Sizer Die

If you don't quite size the whole neck, the base of the neck is closer to the chamber measurements, thereby centering the case in the chamber and theoretically will yield best accuracy.
