Re-barrel ruger gunsite what barrel brand

Haven't played much with true hunting style rifles. Picked up a ruger gunsite left hand currently groups 1.75" at 100. Plan on using for walk and stalk hunt and as a ranch rifle

I am going to send it to rws for some work. Trigger, bedded ect. But I really want it to shoot sub moa and will not be using the forward mount. I am in it so cheap I thought put a better barrel on it and try to make something nice.I plan on leaving it a 16 in barrel and maybe a light varmit tapper.

Any suggestions for barrel brands?

Personally, I'd go with whatever you can find in stock btw Brux, Bartlein, Rock, Krieger, Lilja, Schneider, Obermeyer, etc. Try Bugholes.com...Greg is a great guy and stocks a lot of barrels.

Buddy of mine owns one. It'll do .75 moa with 168 SMK and AMAX, and that's with a 4x in a standard position.

I have one in lefty also. Try a few different loads if you have not already, mine improved greatly with 155gr Bergers. Shilen did a 338RUM for me last year. It is a 28" heavy varmit with a comp and shoots great.

I do not expect to be amazed by a 16" bbl on anything, especially past 3-400 yds. That being said, I got last years deer with my Scout rifle and a normally mounted scope with no problems.
