For the past month of so I have been looking for a model 700 action in 308 to no avail, other than buying a whole new rifle. I have every intention of re-berreling and truing the action for my current rifle build. Are there any calibers that I could consider buying the rifle and just taking off the action to use that as part of the build since it is being re-barreled anyway. Thanks, Mike

yeah 243 and 7mm-08 that I can think of off the top of my head there would be others I just am not sure , but a 308 will work in that action with no bolt mod's

someone who no's more will be along .

243,22-250 6mm,308,260, actions will work for a build. Sometimes picking up a used 22-250 works great. Some look at a 22-250 as just a varmint gun but the action is worth more than the gun. Buy the gun and put a barrel and the caliber you want.
The 260 works great but their are other options with this action. You will have more choices with this bolt.

Any short action cartrige that takes a .473 boltface will work. You can't use anything in the .223/5.56 class or any of the Magnums without changing the extracter to a Sako or M-16 type.
