Re: Really noob question
Some people think so...mainly the companies that market them.
Dont get me wrong, they are great barrels (bartlein, krieger, etc are a few I know that make em) but the bottom line is get a barrel from a quality barrel maker and you will be fine. Plenty of accuracy records have been made with anything from 3-groove up to 6-groove. My last barrel purchase was a 4-groove Brux. Would have got a 5r if it was available at the time, but I dont think I am sacrificing anything with the 4-groove.
Only thing I would reccommend is get a cut-riffled barrel. My preference, but again, a quality button-rifled barrel will prob be fine as well. I and lots of others just prefer cut-rifled.
Good luck,
DT
