Ive got a brand new 18" 308 benchmark barrel that I thought I would use for a hunting rig, but I have started having second thoughts on the 308. I was skimming the net and ran across the 300RCM and have had a hard on for it ever since. Its a short 300WSM "optimized" for short barrels. Im having a hard time trying to figure out what bullets I should be running the 168 Hybrid looks like a promising load if I can run it out of a magazine.

I looked at the 185 also at 2750 it is 6.2 mils to 800 and subsonic at 1450ish.

Go with 300 WSM. The Ruger hasn`t caught on and probably never will. It is factory loaded with powders that make it fast but I don`t think we can purchase the same powder. Get Norma 300 WSM brass and you will be satisfied.

I'm in the same boat. I just had LRI do a rebarrel on my 308 down to a 20" and now have a 26" #17 Krieger that I'll take a beating on if I sell it off so these were my options too.
