Gentlemen,
When reaming a sizing die for a nearly straightwall case, I assume one would use an undersized reamer. How much smaller should that reamer be vs. the chamber reamer?
I'm looking to build my own reamers for a chamber or two.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Reaming a sizing die

Order your chamber and die reamers from the same maker, at the same time. Dave Kiff at PTG is your go to guy. Newlon makes killer blanks and you'll need someone to harden them when complete.

hi i make dies from pacific tool and guage blanks then get them off for nickle teflon coating 1 thou and 2/10ths thick then fine polish the die with 1200 wet and dry to remove any roughness of the nickle coating i just use the standard chamber reamer with removable pilots i ream the chamber with. I have dies for cases based on the ultramag with 6 thou body taper and a 60 degree shoulder and they work perfectly.

Re: Reaming a sizing die

Thanks for the input.
I'm thinking roughly 1 thou over case dia for the chamber reamer and 2 thou under case dia for the sizer reamer.
Sound reasonable?
