i am looking at getting a new rear bag and was wanting to get some input on whats out there for an all around handy, versatile, durable bag. any info on what you have found that works good would be appreciated, thanks.

Re: Rear Bag

There are a number of threads with a number of different opinions on this matter. I personally am partial to the TAB rear bag honestly the straps are a big plus and sometimes the Triad wedge works good.

+1 for the Tab bag. It is very versatile and quite durable. It can be used for many different supported kneeling and standing positions given the appropriate terrain and shooters ability.

Couldn't agree more. Really nice for forearm support when shooting supported positions, particularly barricades and so forth. The straps drape nicely over folded pod legs (particularly the Atlas)

Re: Rear Bag

I prefer the DYI, flexiblity, and much lower cost of a sock filled with Chickpeas, though hard red winter wheat is pretty good for field work as well. I struggle with a 'solid' style unless on rather flat ground.

For the long strings in F-Class I have a homeland leather rear support that looks like that wedge deal stood up with a notch cut into the thin upper edge for the stock to ride. Wheat works well in it.

That notch REALLY helps hold the rifle inplace for the 20 minutes or so I am down on the rifle.

Good Luck

If I had a huge "gun", I would not need a liberator

+1

I've been using Tab and Red Tac bags under my ankle when practicing the kneeling position with my toes extended out (light shoes) rather than folded under (when wearing boots). Wondered if anyone else had tried that. Both brands have held up very, very well. I love the Tab slings and bags, and Red Tac bags, and Triad's customer service.
