What are you guys running? I have a Magpul ASAP on mine now and am looking to replace it. I thought it was cool when I first bought it, but now after diving in to the QD pool, I really want to make a change.
I bought a dual QD mount for my carbine that replaces the receiver/tube plate. I bought mine off the Savvy Sniper website. It looks much like the dual QD plate Troy Industries makes. I like it very much.
Just note if you go this route none of the ready made castle nut wrenches will work - at least none I have found. You could use a brass drift and hammer to snug the nut but I'm having a wrench made at my friendly local machine shop.
Another option is the Tango Down PR-4. It offers 3 QD points (left side, center, and right side) and is installed or removed without taking the original end plate or castle nut off. The only downside is that collapsible stocks can't go all the way in. I keep my CTR in the second notch if I need to shorten it.
Yea I saw the PR-4 and really like it. Have you had any issues with it snagging at all? It looked like the attachment points stuck out a little far, and may cause some issues.
Not at all. I have had my Badger Tac Latch snag on my gear or belt but no issues with the PR-4. I use it on my work rifle with either a Gear Sector 2pt sling or a Blue Force Gear VCAS. I can use the Gear Sector sling as either a 1pt or 2pt with the PR-4.
