I'm debating between rebarrelling my TRG-22 to 6.5CM or building a new custom in order to participate in some precision matches. For these types of matches is a TRG at a disadvantage in some way that building a new rifle would be worth it?
All about money, if you have plenty build a new rifle exactly the way you want it and keep your other.
If you like the form and function of the TRG and the barrel is over the hill or even if it is not, then rebarrel.
Sadly, I view rifles like golf clubs and never get satisfied, but it is my hobby and I like to tinker. I have turned my attention to savage for this reason. You can make them all shoot.
I would rebarrel first then see how you like it, then maybe build a custom rifle but shoot the TRG while it is being built as it may take a while.
cheers.
I'm assuming it's a 308.....why do you feel the need to rebarrel unless it's shot out? Yes, 6.5 offers advantages at long range or in wind, but if you try 155gr scenars you'd be amazed how good it works.....
