Hello all, I recently pieced together an SPR build, and to get it done, I didn't get everything I wanted right up front. Now I am looking at changing some stuff around, mainly barrel and quad rail, but I am wondering if it is better to just sell the whole upper and buy a complete upper, piece it together, or if the best answer is to sell the whole rifle and buy a different one? What sells best in the AR world?

Thanks

Re: rebuild or start over?

Generally frankenguns don't hold value well. I would suggest replacing the pieces you are not happy with and sell them. You could try to sell the upper and see what you can get for it, but I think you will be better off pieceing it out.

I agree with predatornut.

Just replace what you want and you will have EXACTLY what you want. Its easier... In the end if you bought one done the way you wanted it would cost you ALOT more.

Got to go with the posts above,

Selling a barrel and a handguard won't be too tough, it might be easier than a whole upper due to the lower prices.

What do you have? (just curious)

Re: rebuild or start over?

Dave, like I told Dead. Its a parts gun, no matter the sum of the parts new and no matter the manufacturer of the parts, its not going to be worth half of what you paid for it together.

Part it out, if you want a different rail, buy the new rail, sell the old rail at 75% of new retail and it will be gone fast. Want a new barrel, same thing, buy the new barrel and sell the old one, might have to sell for less than 75% retail of a new one but it will still sell.

Barrel and rail swaps on an AR are like putting together leggos, do it one way then change it the next day. Thats why I HATE perm attached muzzle devices.

Buy the new rail and let it set ..... dont pull the old stuff until you have all the parts. You currently have a functioning gun that you can use. No need to tear it apart and have a pile of parts sitting around. The whole gun assembled is going to take up less space than the parts kicking around unassembled.

Outsy - Is dead on...

Besides... if your like me... when you take that damn thing apart and wait for the new parts you end up loosing shit that you needed
