October 19, 2025 – Recap of the URSA NorCal October ‘25 event (by RD, Lynn Dragoman; build info and notes from Oscar)

Now that the deer season is over in the A Zone, we started shooting unlimited range again last Sunday, October 19th. The weather was good and the conditions seemed a little windy early on but all in all a good day to shoot.

In match number one, first time URSA shooter, Johan, shooting a 375 CheyTac with a big BAT 2- inch action in an Accuracy Solutions chassis, hit the 2147-yard gong with his first shot of the day, cold bore. What a way to start the day!!!

Four shooters qualified for record at 2147 (Calshipbuilder, Johan, Amanda, and Doug) with Johan and Doug each getting at least 4 hits to advance to the 2600-yard target. Johan’s trigger broke on his 3rd shot and Doug clinched the win on his 10th shot. Good shooting Doug and a tough break for newcomer Johan, who has already shown he will be in the winner’s circle sooner than later.

Everyone had enough ammo and, after the shutdown for deer season, was eager to shoot. So we held a second match and Calshipbuilder took the win over Amanda at 2147 yards. Congratulations to Calshipbuilder on the win and Amanda for her Runner-up finish.

Of note, during the course of the first match, both Calshipbuilder and Johan scored well enough to qualify for the URSA 3000 Yard Challenge (2026). And in the process, Johan also earned his first two achievement points.

Next match will be the 3rd Sunday of November (11/16). See you all at 8AM.

First match Winner, Doug, was shooting 299 gr. (David Tubb) DTAC’s (with nose ring) out of his Billy Goat Machine-built 33XC with Defiance Machine Deviant Tactical action w/ 30 MOA integrated rail, 32” Schneider barrel, Accuracy Solutions’ “Baby Orca” chassis w/ integrated BipodeXt bipod extender, and Nightforce 7-35×56 ATACR scope on ERATAC 0-70 MOA base and rings.

First match Runner-up, Johan, was shooting 400 gr. Cutting Edge Lazers out of his Spartan Precision Rifles-built 375 CT with BAT EX (2.0”) action, Bartlein 36” barrel, Accuracy Solutions’ pre-Orca chassis with integrated BipodeXt extender, and Nightforce ATACR 7-35×56 scope with Area 419 60 MOA base and Match rings.
