I am building a rifle based off of an FN SPR .308 Action purchased from CDNN last year with a badger tactical bolt knob. The Manners stock came in two days ago and since there is a shortage of FN information I wanted to post it for others who are considering similar builds. The stock is a Manners MCS-T3 with GAP 4 Color Woodland BDU Camo. It is intletted for the FN SPR Action with supplied Pillars and will accept the M-24 Contour Bartlein Barrel which is on order. Bottom metal is CDI, stock has three studs, and the standard 1" Decelerator. The Manners Stock is just awesome. The build will be completed by Greg Tannel of Gre-Tan rifles whenever the barrel comes in. He ordered it about two months ago; it will be a 20" 6 flute threaded barrel. Gre-Tan will true the action and do all of the bedding work as well. XRING sent me very useful load data for 155 Bergers and even sent two dummy rounds so that Greg can build my chamber. I owe him a huge amount of thanks. Without people like him on the hide I would be nowhere with this build right now. I don't know what scope will go on it yet, but I won't be able to afford one for a while anyway. Hope you guys like it, I will update as more becomes available.

I have had great responses from Tom over at Manners. I emailed him and within the hour I had respones from him. Great CS, great people. You have to remember that they just finsihed up the group buy here on Sniperhide. So yeah, I bet he's really busy with that and other stuff.

Re: Received My Manners Stock And Wanted To Show It

The Barrel is the Bartlein #14 M24/M40 Rem Tac 1-11". I spoke with the Bartlein guys before Greg ordered the barrel as my intent with this rifle was to pretty much copy the GAP Rock rifle, with a few subtle changes and of course the different action. I also want to eventually get the AAC Cyclone suppressor for it as funds allow.

I figured I would get some jokes about the "barrel length" in my pictures although with controlled round feed that action would probably fire a round as it sits:) I just don't think it would group very well in it's current configuration and velocity might be a little lower than what I need for good expansion on impact.

A little about the stock.
The Palm Swell is oversized on this model which is great for forcing the shooter to not squeeze the palm extremely hard. I think this will help me focus more on trigger pull without imparting torque into the palm during trigger pull. This models front forearm is flat, and about 2 3/4 inches wide so it is a very sturdy base for bags, tree limbs, or off hand shooting as I deer hunt and this rifle will get plenty of that. The cheek rise on the base of the rifle is perfect for my face and the way I weld my cheek when shooting. I didn't get measurements for my length of pull before ordering, but Thomas said if the 1" decelerator wasn't what I liked we could send it back in and do anything I thougt would be necessary. As it is I like it. I have had several A5 stocks, and must say that I prefer a traditional A1 type contour, but this stock is like an A1 on steroids with improvements in all the right areas and I am extremely pleased with the design, fit, and ergonomics.

Thats all I have, so as parts come in or the build progresses I will update with pictures and or questions for the SH group.

Re: Received My Manners Stock And Wanted To Show It

Very nice, very nice indeed. I just ordered a FN SPR 308 action for a 243 build I am starting to put together, and was thinking about the Manners T3. I have my 308 being bedded in a T4 right now, can't wait to get it back and shoot. Very nice indeed, enjoy the build. You will love the cyclone, mine is definitely a pip to shoot.

+1. I won a gift certificate for a Manner stock. I contacted Tom to thank him for the prize and also to let him know what I wanted. With in a month I had my stock.
