I've been shooting a 180gr. EBR 308 through a supressed Remington SPS Tactical. I recently tasked a friend (very experienced reloader) with duplicating the load as the EBR is pricey and he's done a fantastic job with my 168gr. BTHP match. My friend pulled an EBR round apart and can't figure out the powder used. He did produce a cartridge using magnum pistol powder and a 180gr. Speer round nose. The cartridge he created produced too low of a chamber pressure. As he's an expert reloader, he has no experience with subsonic of this nature. I'm looking for some help, all feedback is welcome.

I'm paying $49.00 for a box of EBR and only using this through the Gemtech HVT.

works for me....on both a 1:10 barrel and a 1:12...

Re: RECIPE FOR 308 SUBSONIC

I'm currently using:

-Hornady 170gr RN .30 30 bullet (HO3060 IIRC)
-10.2gr Trailboss
-FGMM rifle primer
-FGMM 3x+ cases

Shooting from a 700p cut to 22".

I went with the 170's to hopefully stabilize the bullet a little better in my 1:12 twist Remington barrel. I tried to copy the TTI subsonic .308 load and it has been working very well for me so far.

tag for updates and a Q: how does bullet seating depth influence your accuracy ~ better to be a couple thousandths off the lands or seated deeper better, or any difference at all?

some success trying loading to OAL....

180gr Speer Soft Points/flat based bb's. 10.3 gr Trail Boss. one hold groups at 30 yards and will try at 100 yards this weekend and will report back. Also trying some 125 Speer TNT's and 135SMK's as well. using 7.5gr TB to push them at 1025fps testing them in the side yard today.

168 SMKs keyhole and tried loading them backwards and still keyholed.

Rem 700
Schneider 16-inch 1x10 twist
Amer Mfg Triple-X
Lapua brass
Fed mag primers

I loaded quite a few subs, but I have never tried a Mag primer. Did you find this to work better than a standard LRP?

Re: RECIPE FOR 308 SUBSONIC

about 10.5 trailboss here; the mag primers may make it more consistent for you I think. I have also seen where people widen out the flash hole (making it dedicated sub sonic brass), but I haven't tried this.

I have had pretty good luck with the 180 rn out of my 10 twist.
