Has anyone fired both the AW 50 and the Barrett M82/M107? What can you tell me about the difference in recoil, accuracy or other practical differencs between the two?

The Barrett is semi automatic, it won't be as accurate as a bolt action. Most shooters can get a bit over 1moa, some can get under 1moa with match ammo at 1000yds.
I haven't shot the AW50, but every bolt action I've fired has slightly less recoil. The M82 is recoil operated, the system absorbs a substantial amount and transfers little to the shooter. And because of the recoil pad, it feels even less.
The M82 has considerably less muzzle blast than the bolt actions I've fired because of the brake design. The blast is what does most shooters in, with the spotter getting the full blunt end of it

This article is from 2003 but it compares the Barret with the AI and a few others. The AW50 reviewed was one with the old style muzzle break. I understand the new break is a significant improvement.

Not too many people have an AW50. Tigerbikes had one before he sold it. Zak Smith just got one, although he has not been here recently. You may want to ask either of them for their experience.
I thought about getting an AW50 to complete my AIAW collection, but just couldn't justify the cost. End it up with a Barrett M99 and have been extremely happy with it.
