I am building off of a savage rifle and i want to use a PTG Recoil lug but i see they say that it requires the shoulder to be set back but then i watched a couple youtube videos of people using criterion barrels just place them on and go. What is proper/needed procedure here? Thanks.

i have to question the current obsession with oversized recoil lugs. All my guns are built on BAT actions and Kreiger barrels, including my 300winmags and 6.5x47. Never have I seen a need for one of these magical oversized lugs. Save yourself some money and headache

On a savage, the barrel nut is the shoulder. Just stick it in there and headspace it. Easy.
