Gunsmithing Recommend a Smith for Bolt Work

As some of you know I got a case head stuck in my Rem 700 bolt.

I am looking for a skilled, decent priced, moderatly quick turnaround on smith to fix my bolt. (get the brass out, check for other damage/ clean) at this time i am not looking to replace the extractor.

Pretty much Keith at PCR or Chad at Long Rifles. I have used both and have been happy.

I have done this a couple times, once on a remington bolt and once on a surgeon bolt.
Measure the diameter of the bolt nose.
If the end of the bolt expands much more than a couple thousandths, you are likely to get a crack where the extractor cut makes the nose real thin.
If you find that it's damaged, you are looking at fitting a new bolt.

The one in the pictures above was from too much powder.
Using a beam balance with the 10gr weight one notch higher than it was supposed to be was the story given...
