Need to remove some factory rem700 barrels. I want a vise that works well but won't break the bank. Same story for wrench. I'm guessing I'll want T-handle design for removal and through action for installation for proper torque.

I dont use the surgeon wrench to take stock Remington barrels off. I use the brownells action wrench to do that. The surgeon gets used to torq barrels back on and pull ones off that Ive put on.

Also If you have access to a mill you can make your own vise. All my bushings I make on the lathe to fit what I need. Rosin does help a lot too. Heres a pic of a simple vise I use.

Just my .02 cents

I went with the brownells system. It was more than the wheeler stuff but every tool I have purchased from them so far has been good to go. Wheeler stuff has been hit/miss

I did, and have always been happy. Good advise.

Just watched brownells action wrench video. Looks really nice. Their vice and wrench are calling my name. The surgeon will also be nice to put em' on with. Thanx guys for the great advice.

That is a nice sturdy looking tool. Thanks for linking to it. </div></div>

Agreed..good price as well. Don't know how the wrench would be on factory barrels though.
