I'm looking to update my kit and wanted to get some recommendations for necessary precision shooting gear, as well as items that your experience have taught you makes shooting easier.

The items I'm most interested in get recs for data books, rear bags, slings, and tactical vests to carry mags, tools, etc. I've looked a good deal on Triad Tactical and feel like I'm shooting blind if I don't ask what products you all like best.

Finally, does anyone have a specific recommendation for an AICS sling? Which sling is best, and want attachments will I need to make it fit on the AI chassis? Thanks for the help.

Red Tac Rear bag
Red Tac's new vest rocks!!
TAB Sling

As for tools get a multi tool full of hex, star and allen heads and seeknok pre set torque wrenches and a adjustable wrench and you should be golden.

TAB Rear bag, I like the size, weight, density of the fill and it is bomb proof.

TAB Sling, You can get it with AI Hooks for your AICS. The sling is a great carry strap and loop sling for positional shooting.

Spec Ops THE Pack, I love this pack. Several guys on my team have this pack. Not too big, not too small, simple out lay of pockets, plenty of molle to add extras. Mine is atleast 5 years old and is constantly used. I have some edges that are fraying but it has no signs of failing anytime soon.

Fisher Space Pen, Sounds silly but I own several of these. They are pressurized and allow you to write in any condition.

Rite in the Rain notebook, Choose the size for your needs but it partners with the Space Pen and will make life on the range/field easy.

TAB Shooting mat, Not a must have but if you find yourself shooting in mud, wet, cold, snowy conditions this mat will make life comfortable. It is small enough to be considered for tactical use yet plenty functional for square rang use.

EXBAL, I don't have a ton of hands on with various ballistic programs but I have had EXBAL for several years. It is in my PALM Pilot and Lap Top. It makes life easy when dealing with new loads, calibers, shooting conditions etc... It is also nice when that buddy of yours brings his deer gun with no dope and wants to shoot distance, you look like a genius when you can give him the dope to get on target.

Thanks for the help. I've been looking at a few of those items for a while now and it's good to see that some of those items won't be terribly difficult to get. What kind of handhelds does EXBAL work on? I need to upgrade my phone anyway so I want to get something that will be sturdy for the range and handle these programs.

ZL,

I am not a tech guy so I will refrain from answering your question. I lucked out and a friend hooked me up with a free palm pilot. I am sure there are tons of better and up to date options out there.
